Shelby Penrod

Client Services Assistant

Shelby will be one of the friendly voices on the phone when you call the office. She also assists with opening accounts, maintaining information, transferring funds, and online account access. 

Shelby joined the SIA team in June 2024. Previously, she was an assistant for a Human Resources Amazon team. 

Shelby and her husband, Troy, have a son named Elijah. Outside of the office, Shelby enjoys country dancing and hanging out with friends. She loves puzzles, traveling, and creating memories with her family.  

Dave Bowen

Financial Advisor, CFP®

David Bowen, CFP® has specialized in working with retired and nearly retired people since 1996.

Dave worked for a major brokerage firm eight years before beginning his own planning and management firm in 2004. Dave now joins SIA and brings his decades of experience as a finanical advisor to those we serve.

Service, trust and experience are what clients expect. He strives to keep up with economic changes and investment strategies in order to provide the best advice, guidance, and management he can. You can be assured of his commitment to your satisfaction, and to your financial goals.

Sarah Porter

Paraplanner

Sarah assists SIA’s advisors with crafting portfolios, rebalancing accounts, and trading. She also plans the company’s client events and assists with marketing endeavors.

Sarah joined Southwest Investment Advisors in 2021, and has more than 10 years of experience in marketing, customer service, and project management. She previously worked in the technology sector and with various non-profit organizations.

She has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Arizona.

Sarah met her husband, Chris, during the height of the pandemic (on a Zoom call, of all things) in 2020. They live with their two dogs, Einstein and Portia, a Corgi and a Wire-haired Dachshund, who they refer to as their “low-riders.” Sarah loves to read any sci-fi/fantasy novel she can get her hands on.

Sheree Morgan

Sheree assists SIA’s advisors with crafting portfolios, rebalancing accounts, trading, as well as managing the firm’s data.

Sheree joined the team in July 2021 and is enjoying her return to the private sector after many years of working in the public sector for municipal governments.

Sheree and her husband, Glenn, relocated to Tucson in 2018 to be near their granddaughters, Skyler and Zoey. They have since welcomed a third granddaughter, Delaney, who resides in Connecticut. In her free time, Sheree loves to explore Arizona’s beautiful scenery.

Douglas Riegger

Financial Advisor

Douglas joined Southwest in 2023 as a financial advisor and outreach coordinator. He is actively assisting the team with operations around the office and promoting financial education efforts in our community. His background and experiences have given him a unique perspective, and he is passionate about helping others succeed. Douglas has passed the FINRA SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 exams.

Douglas is a recent graduate from the Eller College of Management, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in Finance. During school, he gained practical experience by working in various local restaurants, and operating food pop-ups, where he managed the business aspects and ran the kitchen. In addition to his work in hospitality, Douglas completed a summer internship as a data analyst, where he gained valuable skills in data-driven decision making and analysis.

In his free time, Douglas enjoys hiking with his dog, skiing, reading, and traveling. He also finds woodworking and cooking to be satisfying passions, allowing him to express his creativity and get his hands dirty.

Annette Tate

Administrative Assistant

When clients visit our office, Annette’s is the first friendly face they see. Since joining SIA in early 2022, Annette has focused on building strong client relationships to ensure that clients are always connected to the tools and information they need.

Annette has spent many years providing care in veterinarian centers and in retail managing H&M stores. This care has carried on to SIA with calling on clients to setup meeting with advisors here and ensuring you are taken care of once you come into the office.

Stephanie Hilton

Client Services Assistant

Stephanie brings prior experience to SIA with her previous roles with other financial companies. You will see her in the first part of your annual review as we confirm and update information about clients. She also assists with opening accounts, maintaining information, transferring funds, and general troubleshooting online account access.

When she isn’t in the office, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She is an avid horse rider, caretaker, and general outdoors person. She recently relocated back to the Tucson area from a time spent in Texas.

Lacey Rogers

Client Services Assistant

Lacey manages firm operations at Southwest Investment Advisors. Her primary duties include assisting clients, supporting advisors, processing paperwork and working with the firm’s back-office team at LPL Financial.

Lacey joined the firm in 2007 and has been serving in her current role since 2012. Her past experience includes working at a pet store, which has fueled her love of animals.

Lacey and her husband, Dustin, have two small children and two dogs, Tebow and Ellie. Outside of the office, Lacey enjoys riding horses, traveling, spending time outdoors and listening to her dad, Robert Wright, play the banjo.

Rick Zich

Partner, CEPA®, MBA

As a financial advisor and manager, Rick focuses on strategies to address, clients’ financial challenges while also overseeing firm-wide functions to help strive for no detail being overlooked.

Rick has been with Southwest Investment Advisors since 2019 and has more than two decades of business experience. Prior to joining the firm, he served as controller, chief financial officer and president of several consumer goods companies, where he helped drive double-digit revenue growth. He and his wife also own a jewelry boutique, Trinity Diamonds.

Rick has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Purdue University. He also has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Rick has passed the FINRA Series SIE, 7, 24, 63 and 65 exams. Rick is also a practicing CEPA (Certified Exit Planning Advisor.)

Outside of work, Rick enjoys keeping up with the latest tech news, scuba diving, hiking, playing (or trying to play) the electric bass guitar and taking his dogs on long walks.

Alix Kusler

Partner, CWS®

As a Portfolio Manager and Advisor, Alix serves as a primary contact for clients. She focuses on building long-term relationships as she develops, implements, and monitors custom investment portfolios specifically designed to help clients pursue their goals.

Alix joined Southwest Investment Advisors in 2009 in an operational role. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for a non-profit in Colorado.

Alix has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine University. During college, she studied both in Malibu, California, and in Florence, Italy. She holds the Certified Wealth Strategist® designation. Alix has passed the FINRA Series SIE, 7, and 66 exams.

When she’s not in the office, Alix enjoys traveling and running with her husband, singing at her church, and trying to keep up with her active boys!
