Andrew Clarke, CAIA^®

Andrew Clarke is a Paraplanner with SIA’s Portfolio Team, supporting the firm’s advisors through trade execution, portfolio construction, account rebalancing, and fund research.

Before joining SIA in 2026, Andrew served as a quantitative analyst for BASIS Ed—the organization responsible for managing the acclaimed network of BASIS Charter Schools—for almost a decade. His role involved conducting statistical research and analysis across the firm’s academic, operational, and financial functions. His transition into the financial services industry began when he supported the co-founders of BASIS Ed through the valuation and sale of their stake in the business, and then subsequently joined their family office to aid in the performance evaluation of their financial portfolio.

Andrew holds FINRA SIE, Series 7, 65, and 66 registrations, which are held through LPL Financial. He is also a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA^®).

Outside of work, Andrew can most often be found spending time with his lovely wife and their young son, usually doing something silly and ridiculous to make his son laugh. An avid board game nerd who dabbles in designing his own board games, he also enjoys sci-fi novels, movies, and sports or outdoor activities such as running, hiking, pickleball, and disc golf.

Q&A

What led you to work in this field?

Although helping evaluate the performance of my bosses’ financial portfolio is what steered me into a career in the investment industry, the truth is that I have always believed strongly in the importance of financial stewardship. My dad used to get a chuckle out of the fact that, even though I didn’t make enough money as an undergraduate in college to cover my full living expenses without taking out a loan from him and my mom, I still insisted on creating a budget that set aside 10% of my borrowed funds for savings and 10% for tithing to my church, because I thought it was important to develop financially disciplined habits as soon as I was out on my own. The thought that my work can contribute to helping other families pursue a sense of confidence and purpose about their finances is a strong source of motivation and fulfillment for me.

What are some of your favorite books?

I have really enjoyed the sci-fi genre ever since I was required to read Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card in college. Every book in Scott Card’s Enderverse is fantastic, as are all of the Star Wars novels written by Timothy Zahn that feature the character Grand Admiral Thrawn. On the non-fiction side, Marc Reisner’s Cadillac Desert, which chronicles the history of water management in the western US, also fascinated me in college. But overall I’d have to say that the most powerful books I’ve ever read are the works of C.S. Lewis.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, and money was not a factor, where would you go?

The first time my wife and I ever talked at length before we started dating, we bonded over wanting to see Australia, and it’s still on our bucket list. But while Down Under, I think we would have to see New Zealand too.

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be…

Flight, definitely. No jetpacks, no Iron Man wrist rockets, just quiet and smooth, like a soaring bird. Alas, physics.
